2 Miles
Our second walk was to the iconic Preikestolen/Pulpit Rock. The tourist advise was to take crampons ... our guide advised us to the contrary explaining that it was a simple hike that you could do in trainers if you fancied ... I was glad I had my sturdy Scarpa boots on. The path wound up behind several peaks and gradually became more icy but we ploughed on thinking we probably should have taken the advise at the bottom. We weren't the worst off though, there was a man from Guildford (who would have thought it!) walking the same trail in fancy leather shoes ...! We rounded a corner and the path became a lot narrower and a gaping chasm appeared on our left. The last couple of hundred meters to the rock is spent walking with 1000 foot drop on one side and a wall of rock on the other, then jutting out 30 meters from the mountainside it appears. The protrusion is flat and sticks out thirty meters and then drops straight down to the bottom of the fjord. This is the only place I have felt physically sick standing next to an edge. Of course we still had to do the touristic photos like peering over the edge and sitting with our legs over the edge ... or in Arve's case lay on your back with your head over the edge and take a selfie! What a great day with some immense views.

That's all the walking we got up to. Sadly the GPS traces didn't work well because of the fjords and signals bouncing but we have calculated the distances ourselves!
Total Miles Walked: 99.6
